The Chicago Urban League Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation
The Chicago Urban League Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation gives entrepreneurs of color with opportunities to start, expand and maintain their business. Through business mentoring sessions or networking events, they can gain access to financial resources supplier diversity certifications may also be obtained, as are tenders for private or public contracts. Free entrepreneurship webinars along with startup mentors, are also available.
The Urban League currently provides services to over 6,300 job seekers and business owners in Chatham. Sunshine Enterprises aims to help high-potential business owners in neighborhoods who have limited resources, to expand their businesses and change their neighborhoods. Their 12-week Community Business Academy and ongoing Business Acceleration Services support (such as coaching, microgrants, workshops and networking opportunities) aid in this.
Sunshine provides entrepreneurs with financial assistance that can be a major hurdle in the beginning or expansion of an enterprise. The Coaches for Business Coaches of Sunshine meet on a one-on-1 basis with entrepreneurs to decide the kind of financing needed and to devise an action strategy. President Obama recognized Rising Tide Capital for their Community Business Academy which has contributed to the revitalization of areas and improve the lives of people. 94% graduates went on to establish their own businesses or to create employment.

Incubatoredu
INCubatoredu gives students an opportunity to experiment with entrepreneurship, by creating their own business. Every class is accompanied by a mentor or coach who will guide teams of students through the course and help with initiatives related to washable shoe insoles, or social applications; Students have plenty of opportunities to try out their ideas using lean business practices.
While student teams go through the program as they progress through the program, they are taught how to improve the ideas of their startups through the exploration of ideas and customers as well as market research, prototyping building and pitching. This process helps develop communication and problem solving skills and teaches students how quickly they can change to new circumstances.
Each year, every team takes part at the INCubatoredu National Pitch to compete for seed funding for their new ventures. This event provides teams with valuable networking experiences for investors, as well as expert advice from business professionals - an event known for its shark tank-style pitch sessions.
